DI |
Device identifier A unique numeric or alphanumeric code specific to a device version or model; this value has a fixed position within the UDI. |
Data Connect Content Workbench |
A data management user interface (UI) you can use to manage data attributes by exception (for example, UNSPSC and part numbers). |
Data Connect Procurement | A requisitioning UI that gives you a way to search and filter across curated item master and contract items. |
Curation |
A curated item has a Manufacturer Name, Manufacture Part Number, Supplier Name, and Supplier Part Number validated by a trusted supplier source, and has been enriched with UNSPSC, HCPCS Status, and HCPCS Code (if applicable), Item Status, GHX Item Description and Supplier Packaging at minimum. The GHX Item Description is created by combining the Noun, Type, Trademark/Brandname, and at least two of the following attributes: Age Group, Gender, Primary Length Width Height, Secondary Length Width Height, Diameter, Volume, Weight, Color, Composition, Ergonomic Location, Flavor, Fragrance, Miscellaneous, Properties, or Size/Shape. |
Duplicate item |
A curated (discerned) active item that has an item number that matches to the same manufacturer item number but has a different buyer part number. |
EID |
Exchange Identifier A unique customer identifier for the GHX Exchange. Also known as the GHX ID. |
GTIN |
Global Trade Item Number A unique 14-digit number developed by the GS1 that is used to identify items, products, and services. |
GUDID |
Global Unique Device Identification Database The US Food and Drug Administration's (FDA's) database that serves as a reference catalog for every device with a unique device identifier (UDI). The GUDID contains only the device identifier (DI) portion of the UDI. |
HCPCS |
Healthcare Common Procedure Coding System A standardized coding system used to identify products, supplies, and services. |
IDN |
Integrated Delivery Network An IDN is a provider organization (e.g., hospital, clinic, surgery center, long term care center, nursing home, mental health facility) that provides direct patient care for profit or not-for-profit and gets reimbursement from insurance companies and the government. |
MCAT |
The cleansed, integrated catalog file that is enhanced with clinical data and generated from Data Connect. |
PCAT | The item master catalog file generated from the provider's ERP system. |
PIM |
Product Information Management An Oracle ERP term. |

Primary DI |
Primary device identifier (DI) number This is a medical device’s primary look-up identifier. It can be either a Global Trade Item Number (GTIN) or a HIBCC (Health Industry Business Communications Council) code. The primary DI is located on the label of the base package, which is the lowest package level of a medical device containing a full UDI (Unique Device Identifier). For medical devices without packaging, the primary DI number and the UDI may be on the device itself. |
