GHX receives provider data from three sources:

  • Item master file.

  • Purchase order history (POH) file.

  • Contracts.

How Data Connect Prioritizes Item Curation

Priority Levels

The four priority levels are based on various criteria, such as whether an item is implantable, on- or off-contract,

and whether the item was previously purchased.

Curation focuses on med/surg items. Other items are out of scope and are not prioritized.

What's Included in a Curated Item

A curated item has, at a minimum, a:

  • Manufacturer name.

  • Manufacturer part number.

  • Supplier name.

  • Supplier part number validated by a trusted supplier source.

It's been enriched with:

  • UNSPSC.

  • HCPCS status.

  • HCPCS code (if applicable).

  • Item status.

  • GHX item description.

  • Supplier packaging.

  • And possibly more.

The GHX item description is created by combining:

  • Noun.

  • Type.

  • Trademark/brand name.

  • At least two of the following attributes:

    • Age group.

    • Gender.

    • Primary length/width/height.

    • Secondary length/width/height.

    • Diameter.

    • Volume.

    • Weight.

    • Color.

    • Composition.

    • Ergonomic location.

    • Flavor.

    • Fragrance.

    • Miscellaneous.

    • Properties.

    • Size/shape.
