Define Item Discernment Statuses

As you review your items in NuVia, you will notice items in different stages of the discernment process. During the discernment process, GHX provides sufficient information to identify, classify and describe an item. Track the progress of items in the discernment process by referencing their discernment status. Locate the Discernment Status column in the Virtual Item Master to view item discernment statuses.

Discernment Status	Description
In Process	Items that are in the validation and enrichment process
Discerned	GHX has provided sufficient information to identify, classify and describe the sourced item
Ineligible	Items that are not in scope for GHX to cleanse or provide additional information (i.e. food service, pharma products)
Obsolete	Per the vendor, the item is no longer available
Unknown	Per the vendor, the item cannot be recognized
