Understand Adjustments

While you likely know what adjustments are, it's important to understand how they work in CCXpert and how to use them.

What is an adjustment?

Adjustments are either markups or mark-downs. Sometimes, rather than re-negotiating a contract, trading partners decide to implement an adjustment to a specific vendor or an entire contract. Adjustments can be applied to GPO contracts and local contracts. Adjustments and surcharges are different. A surcharge, for something like a shipping charge, is a dollar amount added on top of the base price. An adjustment is a percentage applied to the base price (either positive or negative).

What is the source of an adjustment?

Some GPOs send adjustments in their nightly data feed to CCXpert; others do not. You will need to verify with your GPO if they are making adjustments automatically or if you need to enter them in CCXpert.

Apply Adjustments in CCXpert

For efficiency, to ensure that data doesn't get overwritten, and to ensure all your contracts have the correct adjustments, adjustments should be applied in a specific order.

  1. Vendor-level adjustments: This is the highest level of adjustment. These adjustments apply to all contracts for the selected vendor(s). Most GPOs send vendor-level adjustments in the feed. Ask your CSM or open a ticket with Customer Care if you are unsure.

  2. Contract-level adjustments: This level only applies to selected contracts and overrides vendor-level adjustments. Use this level to handle contracts that are the exception to the vendor-level adjustments you set for the selected vendor. Some GPOs also send contract-level adjustments in the feed. Ask your CSM or open a ticket with Customer Care if you are unsure.

  3. Surcharges: These are added to the base price as a dollar amount, prior to any adjustments.

Tip: GHX recommends you set distributor percentages on your GPO website rather than in CCXpert.
